Eye allergies cause itchy, red, burning, and watery eyes. Allergies can be triggered by a host of allergens, including pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold, air pollution, cosmetics, soaps, foods – and even some eye drops. Our ophthalmologist, Dr. George Char, will examine your eyes and, if necessary, will recommend prescription medication to relieve your allergy symptoms.
Dry eye is a common condition characterized by itching, burning, stinging, or tearing eyes. It can occur if you do not produce enough tears or if your tears are unable to properly lubricate your eyes. Blocked tear ducts, eye infections, the environment, and some medications can contribute to dry eye. Age-related macular degeneration is a common eye disease that affects the part of the retina called the macula. The macula is located at the back of the eye. It controls your central field of vision. With macular degeneration, the macula becomes damaged over time, and your central vision becomes limited or even lost entirely. Your peripheral vision typically remains unaffected.
